This is the summer of colourwork by Boyland Knitworks. And I don’t see how this will ever end.
Product knit for the win! So very pleased with the result, but oh my how I was bored knitting it. I was sorely tempted to put it aside and do something more fun (for me) on several occasions. But I knew it would just crawl into a corner forgotten if I did. Instead I now have in my wardrobe one of the garments I’m most pleased with and will probably wear a ton.
I first came across Junko Okamoto’s designs, as one does, on Instagram. A wonderful Japanese designer that has quickly crowded my to-knit-list with beauties like the Twigs, Yuri and Astrid. But first up, unable to resist a cheeky cast-on, is the Bouquet Sweater. An all over colourwork design with an unusual construction and detail. And in a worsted weight stitch gauge of 20 st x 10 cm it was too good to wait.
My version of Rocquaine pullover was finally finished at the end of February after nearly six months in the WIP-pile, completely missing the self-imposed deadline of the #rocquainealong. No surprise there. I have only now gotten around to write a post about it.
This winter I made the Treysta sweater by Jennifer Steingass. It was another one of those “I must have this” cast-on’s totally spurred on by an Instagram post by Tuku Wool. I’ve made mine in the more accessible (to me) Hillesvåg Tinde yarn which is one of my all time favourite yarns for colourwork. It’s a sticky rustic wool from the Norwegian pelt sheep creates such a deep saturated colour and a wonderful lustre that is just… well, lovely.
I thought I would write up my review of this pattern. I've now knitted it up twice, both half and full versions. And it is such a satisfying knit. The pattern in question if of course Hansel by Gudrun Johnson.
Finally putting up the show-notes for this episode. I've been completely distracted with lots of new things happening. In this episode I'm showing off some finished knits, muse about scrap yarn knitting and self-striping socks.
The third installment of me chatting about knits and yarns is live! There was some technical difficulties had but I managed to get on with it - there is a weird shaking going on that hopefully won't be seizure inducing. Getting the grips of this podcast thing is a steep learning curve! In any case I hope you will enjoy watching :)
As the day has been slightly cold, overcast and free for rain and wind I thought it best to document the finished "No Frills" sweater - a pattern by Petiteknit that everyone and their aunt have been knitting since it was published November 2016.
The second episode is up on YouTube! I chat about my current works in progress, talk about the why I cast on more even when I've got plenty of projects on the go. I show off a couple of finished objects and last but not least a parade of beautiful new yarn that made it into my stash.
