Hi!

Welcome to my blog. I am Silje and I document my thoughts, ramblings and adventures in knitting, fibre arts, and all things crafty. Hope you have a nice stay!

Soldotna Crop

Soldotna Crop

And onto the band wagon I went. Again. Caitlin Hunter (@boylandknitworks) keeps stopping me mid scroll with her pattern launches. This cropped colourwork tee totally skipped ahead in line and fell into my lap as a delicious spring knit.

To gauge ones work right

Another golden design from Boyland Knitworks. I swooshed through this DK weight cropped top in 11 days back in May, so I'd say a fairly quick knit. Colourwork yoke need satisfied. My only issue with this is that once again my gauge is off and I got a somewhat denser fabric than described in the pattern. Now I do love the feel of the resulting fabric but the tee feels a tad on the tight side. Which would be OK if I had wanted a fitted tee. 😅

I am however not ripping back and re-knitting this because I do think it turned out stunning 😍. The colours from Tweedy Todd are so unexpected but good together. It will just have to sit in the closet until I feel comfortable wearing it. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that I’ve got knitwear stewing a while before wearing!

Will she make another?

It's tempting to make another version, one that is light and breezy, and can be worn without feeling selfconcious about the massive boob action. So three things to take away from this:

  1. Looser gauge or up one size.

  2. Alter neckline to be a bit wider (but possibly would not be an issue with the right gauge).

  3. Keep sleeve length, really pleased with the 1/2 sleeve to the elbow.

Now will I eventually make another one? My stash consists mostly of fingering weight yarns, so I would have to go yarn-shopping (woe is me!). And I know some hot new pattern will show up and distract me again soon. Still I think about it, it was sa great knit, so fun to mix colours and I am totally not done crushing on Caitlin Hunter's patterns… Would love a dark grey one…
