The "No Frills" Sweater
As the day has been slightly cold, overcast and free for rain and wind I thought it best to document the finished "No Frills" sweater - a pattern by Petiteknit that everyone and their aunt have been knitting since it was published November 2016. It had been lingering in my cast-on-wish-list for a very long time indeed. Finally cast on this June and finished end of August I'd say it was a fairly speedy knit, even with a mid-summer hiatus when it was simply too hot for knitting with mohair.
I used Nøstebarn Merinoull 2 ply "Aubergine" held double with Garnsurr hand dyed silk mohair Skrantin "Krilla/Nufyo". And I so pretty pleased with the final result. A light, soft and fuzzy basic pullover with that slightly oversized feel and 90's fit we all love these days. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't have enough yarn towards the end there and I bound off with only about 30 g of each to spare. This was also the first time I've knit with hand dyed silk mohair and it was indeed a bit of a hassle alternating skeins not to get the colour pooling weirdly, but in the end totally worth the effort. I absolutely love the colourway created by Akberet at Garnsurr and find it a great way to add a bit of sparkle and interest to an otherwise very simple knit, it is so much fun seeing the yarn unfold it's golden speckles.
For me a totally recommendable knit and a well written pattern which allows you to play with all sorts of yarn combos to make basic be less boring :)
