Hi!

Welcome to my blog. I am Silje and I document my thoughts, ramblings and adventures in knitting, fibre arts, and all things crafty. Hope you have a nice stay!

Episode 10: A scrappy crochet hook up (and a past knitting fail)

Episode 10: A scrappy crochet hook up (and a past knitting fail)

Show notes for episode 10 below! 😃In this one I chat about my Birkin sweater, show my progress on the Foula snood, talk about a cheeky new crochet hook up, present a finished amigurumi and share my woes about a past knitting fail.

Stuff mentioned in this episode

What I’m wearing

“Birkin” pullover by Caitlin Hunter. First published in Laine Magazine Issue 2. Single pattern sold on Ravelry. I could not find it sold on Boyland Knitworks website. If you want more details on my version than I manage to relate in the podcast you can check out the blog post I wrote back in May 2020.

On the needles (work in progress)

Current colourwork snack project is the “Foula Snood” by Donna Smith, a great fair-isle pattern which you can get on on Ravelry as a single pattern from the designers shop or in the 2018 Shetland Wool Week Annual.

For my version I’ve used Fjord Fibres “Hytteliv (Cabin Life)” and Rauma FinullPT2 “Sauesvart - 410” and yellows “Lys strågul - 402” and “Sennepsgul - 4805”.

This week I hooked up with a new crochet project. Namely the “Lockdown Cardigan” by Theodora Goes Wild. A worsted weight, open front, short sleeve crochet cardigan which is great for stash-diving and using up some random yarns lingering. I’m doing mine in a collection of mainly alpaca mix yarns in blacks, blues and greens. So far I’m really enjoying the different stitches and textures of this project. Get the pattern on Theodoras Etsy or Ravelry shops, whichever works best for you.

I have also been swatching for the “Ribbed Raglan” by Anne Ventzel with hand dyed yarn from Værbitt held together with silk-mohair from a new-to-me reasonably priced yarn Mayflower.  Looking forward to this future cast on.

Bound off (Finished objects)

I finished my amigurumi monster! “Walt the green monster” by Özlum Yildiz Teke from the book “Amigurumi Monsters”. I worked him up in Scheepjes Catona 100% Cotton and managed to complete him just in time for my sons 5th birthday. Turned out pretty cute and the new owner is very pleased. ☺️

Knit fails

Digging out my “Tversover flettebolero” by Pickles I show you this past knit and where I failed completely. Such a shame not being able to put it to use as I really like the pattern, colour and texture of this bulky bolero from the Norwegian brand. You can get the pattern alone or as a kit on their website.
