Episode 6: Twisted stitches and Fair Isle colourwork

Episode 6: Twisted stitches and Fair Isle colourwork

In an effort to keep the ball rolling I’m putting another of these knitting podcasts out into the wild webs. This episode is heavy on the colourwork love, and especially Marie Wallin’s designs. 😍

Mentioned in this episode

What I’m wearing

“Lovage” by Marie Wallin. Published in the Windswept collection, you can get this booklet on her website, but can also be bought on Ravelry as an individual pattern. For my version I used Brooklyn Tweed Loft with the main colour is “Foothills”, check out my project page for the exact colourways used.

On the needles (work in progress)

“Lillemors Herregenser” makes an appearance again although not much has happened on that front since last episode where I went into more detail about it and you can check that out if you are curious.

Another pattern by Marie Wallin is in my works in progress. “Skye” was published in the “North Sea” collection (Pattern booklet website: ). Can be bought as an individual knitting pattern on Ravelry. I’ve used Rowan Felted Tweed in “Duck egg” and “Barn Red” for this knit which is the yarn called for in the pattern. First time using this yarn and it is a bit of a luxury.

And because distractions abound as usual I have jumped on a promt from a friend made a knitted swatch for a bulky cardigan in leftover yarns. Not putting a deadline on this one, but it has serious stash-busting possibilities. 😁

Bound off (Finished objects)

Albert ,the Longisquama, has been completed! And he is such a cutie. Albert is a amigurumi crochet toy from the book “Dinosaurs, Mammoths and more prehistoric amigurumi” made in Scheepjes Catona cotton.

Impulsive cast-ons

"Kellister'' by Gudrun Johnston. A fair isle colorwork hat pattern just released! I had to stop everything and cast on for this hat in the exact colour combo as shown. Just the perfect winter hat it has all the elements; corrugated rib, folded brim, fair isle colourwork, slight slouch and a pom to top it all! I know what I will be knitting on this weekend.

And it will pair perfectly with my second impromptu cast on which is the "Cozy Cowl" by Anne Ventzel. Second one I am making. This time in Stranded Dyeworks BFL Nylon in the colourway "Orange Tabby" held double with silk mohair.

That was it for today’s episode folks! hope you enjoyed it and see you next time! 😘
