Hi!

Welcome to my blog. I am Silje and I document my thoughts, ramblings and adventures in knitting, fibre arts, and all things crafty. Hope you have a nice stay!

Winter is for knitting - Ep. 35

Winter is for knitting - Ep. 35

Keeping cozy mid-winter with lots of colourful fair-isle knitting. There are so many new cast-ons!

Wearing

Lapwing by Marie Wallin is an all-over colourwork pullover with classic fair-isle motif. (More about that in episode 26) For this sweater I used the 2 ply BFL hand dyed OOAK by NinaPetrina and sone 2 ply mohair yarn Symre by Telespinn.

On my needles

The Harbour Cowl by Andrea Williamson is a fair-isle colourwork cowl in bright graphic colours. Published in the “Shetland Wool Week Annual 2021”, which I think you can still get online. I’ve matched the original Spindrift colours with colours available in Finull by Rauma.

Cairngorm is a knitted beanie with simple fair-isle motif. I’ve made matching mittens (!) in Finull. Winging the mittens and using the charts from the hat as reference. The hat pattern is by Ysolda Teague and you can get it on Ysolda’s website.

Vesle Vinterfjell is a top-down colourwork sweater by Skeindeer Knits. I’m knitting the size 1-2 years for my youngest boy. Yarn used is again Finull by Rauma. Obsession or accessibility?

Spiralling Cables Triangle by Stephen West Textured triangle shawl, variegated yarn. I’m using Pure wool from Pickles and Zauberball Stärke 6.

Boulevardier by Thea Coleman Textured worsted weight pullover knit flat in Lanolin Wool from Dale held with Silk Mohair from Sandnes Garn.
