Welcome to my blog. I am Silje and I document my thoughts, ramblings and adventures in knitting, fibre arts, and all things crafty. Hope you have a nice stay!

Episode 13: A week of WIP's

Episode 13: A week of WIP's

This week I’ve been a busy bee fluttering from WIP to WIP. The Lapwing pullover from episode 12 has one sleeve completed, I’ve started on a sleeve for my Granny Square pullover and cast on for a new project - the beautiful lace yoke of Kuutar.

Yarns, patterns and people mentioned in this episode

What I’m wearing

“Whitehorse Sweater” by Caitlin Hunter (@boylandknitworks) . Get the pattern on Ravelry. I used Hillesvåg Tinde - a Norwegian pelt wool - for this project.

On the needles (work in progress)

I’ve completed one sleeve for my “Lapwing” pullover by Marie Wallin. I’m showing off a clever way of hiding the rough edges of armhole steeks that is very commonly used on Norwegian drop-shoulder “kofter” (cardigans/ jackets). This free (!) pattern can be downloaded on Lovecrafts or Ravelry. It’s an all over colourwork pullover which I started back in 2019. Yarn used for this is Ninapetrina Tynn Blue-faced Leicester in "Oliven" for main colour and Telespinn Symre in "Brent jord" to contrast. Both are 2 ply light fingering weight yarns.

Also mentioned were the Foula Snood which is an active wip, but it looks pretty much the same as last time. So check out Episode 11 for more info on that one.

Picked up my Classic Granny Pullover (Ravelry project) again, not a pattern, just done after my own head. Experimenting with crochet. Mostly rustic fingering weight 2 ply wool. Bottom hem knitted in 1x1 twisted stitch ribbing and I’ve decided on what sleeve to put in and am about half way about that. I used the “Knitting pattern essentials” resource book by Sally Melville for some advice on how to approach this with the maths and all. I find it’s a helpful book for any knitter looking to draft or adapt sweater patterns.

New cast-on!

I made a decision and cast on for the “Kuutar” pullover by Sari Nordlund (@sari_n_). Pattern can be found on Ravelry and the yarn used is hand dyed Superwash Merino DK by Millas Mikrofargeri in the colourway “Kobbertak” (Copper roof).
